In addition to the presentations and discussion forums, several special events are planned for the Showcase. Some of these special events will require you to book to confirm attendance. Be sure to go to the registration site to register if you are planning to attend.

Capstone Address
The Showcase organisers are pleased to announce a special ‘Capstone Address' by Professor Richard Johnstone. The title and abstract for this address will be added closer to the date of the Showcase.

Professor Richard Johnstone
Richard is the foundation Executive Director of the Carrick Institute for Learning and Teaching in Higher Education . Professor Johnstone is a graduate of the University of Newcastle (NSW) and Cambridge University and has held senior positions in universities in the UK and Australia. Since 2000, he has been Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Teaching and Learning) at the University of Technology, Sydney. Richard has been involved in a range of national activities relating to review and support of teaching and learning in higher education and the development of policy in this area. He was a member of the Australian Universities Teaching Committee from 2000 to 2004 and its predecessor body the Committee for University Teaching and Staff Development from 1997. He has been a member of the Board of Graduate Careers Australia and chairs GCA's Survey Reference Group which oversees the national Course Experience Questionnaire and Graduation Destination Survey. |
Showcase Reception
The 2006 Showcase organising committee is very pleased to announce that this year's Showcase function will be hosted on the Gladstone campus.
Time: Thursday 9th February 6.30pm start
Location: Building 603, Gladstone Campus
Attire: Semi-Formal \ Smart Casual
Hosted by Gladstone Campus and by the Division of Teaching and Learning Services
Note: The Showcase Reception is by invitation only. To receive an invitation you must register for the Showcase (using the online registration form) by Monday 6th February.
A bus, to transport people from Rockhampton to Gladstone and return, has been arranged. The bus will depart from the Rockhampton campus at 5pm, with a pick-up at the CQUniversity CBD campus at 5.15pm. The bus will depart Gladstone at 9.30pm. Bookings are required as seats are limited.
REACT Writers' Workshop , Panel Session and Raconteur
Special sessions occurring during the 2006 Learning and Teaching Showcase include group presentations, such as a REACT Writers' Workshop and a panel discussion. Staff/audience participation and interaction will be encouraged in these sessions designed to explore some topical issues, both for higher education generally and for CQUniversity specifically.
We are fortunate to have Associate Professor Seamus Fagan agree to act as racontuer for the Showcase. Seamus is currently with the University of Newcastle , although some staff may remember him from his time with International Education at CQUniversity. Seamus will provide a closing overview of the Showcase.
