Program and course development and review

Australian universities are self-accrediting and deliver higher education qualifications which comply with the relevant titles and descriptors in the Australian Qualifications Framework. CQUniversity, as a self-accrediting institution, meets nationally agreed criteria for a university and is authorised to accredit its own awards. CQUniversity takes full responsibility for, and ensures consistent standards of, all programs which lead to a qualification it awards, including through specific strategies, the monitoring of all programs delivered offshore and those delivered through partners or agents.

In November 2010 Academic Board approved, the Program and Course Policy (http://policy.cqu.edu.au/Policy/policy_file.do?policyid=959) and Procedures (http://policy.cqu.edu.au/Policy/policy_file.do?policyid=1864) as well as the accompanying Word templates (http://www.cqu.edu.au/academic_board/academicboard/programcoursetemplates.htm).

For the interim period the Word templates are to be used for the development, accreditation, review and enhancement of programs and courses.  They will be replaced when the Nexus system currently being developed becomes operational.  Nexus will be replacing the current Program and Course Approval (PCA) system.

Academic Board reviews accredited programs according to the Program Review Schedule (staff logon required). The schedule contains details of program reviews and the professional accreditation of programs. The schedule will be updated in accordance with program proposals and program review reports submitted to Academic Board.
