The Bachelor of Music Degree

The Bachelor of Theatre Degree - a program unique to Queensland and offered on the Mackay campus offers outstanding training in one of three specialisations:
The Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Theatre programs require three years of full-time or six years of part-time study to complete.
The Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music offers the following graduate programs:
Bachelor of Music (Honours). This program, offered on the Rockhampton and Mackay campus of CQUniversity, and also in distance mode (flexible delivery), requires one year of full-time or two years of part-time study to complete.
Bachelor of Theatre (Honours). This program, offered on the Mackay campus of CQUniversity, and also in distance mode (flexible delivery), requires one year of full-time or two years of part-time study to complete.
Master of Creative Enterprise (Creative Practice). This program, offered on the Rockhampton, Mackay and Bundaberg campuses of CQUniversity and also in distance mode (flexible delivery), requires three terms full-time or six terms part-time study to complete.
TAFE has long been a recognised pathway to university study. CQUniversity is pleased to announce a partnership with the Sunshine Coast Institute of TAFE offering simpler access to the Bachelor of Music Degree program in the form of dual offers.
Diploma of Music Industry (Technical Production)/Bachelor of Music (Creative Music Technologies)
The Sunshine Coast Institute of TAFE and CQUniversity Noosa offer students the opportunity to study the Diploma of Music Industry (Technical Production)/Bachelor of Music (Creative Music Technology) program. This program offers students access to a university degree after successful completion of one year of TAFE study. Students will commence their second year of study at a university level and within two years graduate degree qualified.
Diploma of Music Performance/Diploma of Music Industry -Business (Combined)/Bachelor of Music (Contemporary)
The Diploma of Music Performance/Diploma of Music Industry - Business (combined)/Bachelor of Music (Contemporary) offers students studying at the Sunshine Coast Institute of TAFE the opportunity to increase their Diploma to a Degree qualification in just two further years of study. Students qualify for the Bachelors Degree after successful completion of one year of their Diploma. The Bachelors Degree can be completed within two years as students receive credit for prior learning.
Benefits of Dual Offer Programs
These dual offer programs provide students with another pathway into university studies. This pathway is ideal for students who may not have qualified for immediate entry to university, or for those who are not yet sure, or ready, to begin university study and are keen to get a taste of their future career before committing to a degree. A standard Bachelor Degree is usually a three year university program. TAFE graduates can now complete the available degrees with just two years by receiving credit transfers for their previous study. Students can save on the cost of university fees by first completing a Diploma. While studying the Diploma programs at TAFE students will gain valuable practical experience, this coupled with the core theoretical skills learnt at University ensures that students graduate work ready and are highly sort after by prospective employers.
Note: Students holding equivalent qualifications to the Diploma of Music Industry (Technical Production) are welcome to apply for entry into the second year of the BMusic (Creative Music Technologies). Students holding equivalent qualifications to the Music Performance/Diploma of Music Industry -Business (Combined) are welcome to apply for entry into the second year of the BMusic (Contemporary). Students in this situation will be required to lodge a QTAC application and present an audition.
