One arm of the Faculty provides services to commercial customers by way of specialised consulting and training, and hiring of resources to interested groups.

Centre for Environmental Management

Provides knowledge & skills to achieve environmentally sustainable development in the dry tropics. It has six main fields of endeavour - marine, terrestrial and freshwater ecology, environmental resource economics, ecotoxicology, coastal hydrodynamics some associated social studies.

Centre for Railway Engineering

Is a very successful research centre instituted by the Council of the CQUniversity (CQU) in 1994. CRE provides a great opportunity for its host faculty to integrate the civil, the mechanical and the electrical engineering disciplines at the undergraduate level in addition to offering excellent research concentration at the postgraduate level.

Institute for Health and Social Science Research

Underpins the CQUniversity's commitment to sustainable academic research by pursuing its vision to be recognised nationally and internationally as a provider of high quality social research that contributes to understanding and improving the well-being and health of environments, families and individuals in Central Queensland and elsewhere.

Centre for Plant & Water Science

Conducts research activities that service the needs of a range of primary industry activities spanning the agricultural (horticulture, broad-acre, grazing, beef), the extractive (coal, nickel, magnesite) and the processing (aluminium smelting, local coal transfer terminals) industries. 

Centre for Process Engineering & Light Metals (PELM)

Provides specialised consulting in areas pertaining to industrial fluid, light metals, material selection, bulk materials handling and advanced sensing.

Centre for Professional Health Education (CPHE)

Was established to provide a variety of professional development and continuing education opportunities for health professionals. The Centre for Professional Health Education currently offers 9 specialisations through its Specialty Studies programs. Each course is presented in a partnership model of graduate clinical education where theoretical components are delivered by Centre faculty with integration and assessment of practice co-ordinated and conducted by faculty approved clinicians.
