Initially a joint initiative between Central Queensland University, the Queensland government and local industries, PELM is now essentially run by CQUniversity with support from the Queensland government. PELM provides an advanced Gladstone-based Research and Development facility to service the R&D needs of industries in the Central Queensland Region. Located at the Gladstone campus of CQUniversity, PELM has a team of internationally respected full time research personnel, advanced analytical and experimental facilities and a series of multifunction "cell" laboratories. In addition to the staff based at Gladstone, PELM draws on the existing research strengths of academics throughout the whole of CQUniversity and partner organisations.
PELM has been in operation for approximately 6 years. As part of the strategic planning framework established in 2006 (view the document), PELM research areas were re-defined in 2008.
