In the development of its community program, BMC undertook a Community Needs Assessment with local stakeholders in order to develop its understanding of local issues and concerns, as well as expectations of its performance in the local community.
People from Mackay, Nebo and Moranbah participated in the process, across five sectors including education and training, government, business, community and environment. Confidential, face to face interviews were conducted with these stakeholders.
After listening, BMC began to work with key local education representatives to help address regional challenges with educational opportunities through the BMC Education Initiative Advisory Group.
The BMC Education Initiative Advisory Group is made up of three BMC representatives and three community representatives.
The group's major project, the BMC Building My Career Scholarships in partnership with CQUniversity is targeted to assist in addressing these areas of community concern.
