Overview

Have a positive influence on the health and wellbeing of people through movement and study the Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours) at CQU to develop the knowledge and skills required to practice as a Physiotherapist. Accredited by the Australian Physiotherapy Board of Australia, the course features extensive real-world learning in purpose-built physiotherapy labs and professional clinical practice placements.

Physiotherapy is a healthcare profession focussed on human function and movement. Physiotherapists use a range of techniques to treat patients, including:

  • manual therapy,
  • exercise,
  • education and
  • advice.

Through this course, you will develop the essential skills required to assess, treat and manage people of all ages and with musculoskeletal, neurological and cardiorespiratory injuries or diseases.

You'll learn from an experienced physiotherapy academic team and gain relevant industry experience through clinical placements. Upon completion, you'll be equipped with the practical skills and knowledge to excel in a wide range of physiotherapy roles.

Professional Physiotherapy Practice 5 - PSIO14004

Students are required to complete an extensive 5 week clinical placement in this unit. Students may be required to travel to complete the 5 week clinical placement. Students will be financially responsible for clinical placement accommodation and travel costs.

Professional Physiotherapy Practice 3 - PSIO14002

Professional Physiotherapy Practice 1 - PSIO13002

Students are required to complete an extensive 5 week clinical placement in this unit. Students may be required to travel to complete the 5 week clinical placement. Students will be financially responsible for clinical placement accommodation and travel costs.

The Bachelor of Physiotherapy course involves extensive practical experience, both through university-based units and clinical education placements that are embedded into the course. In the third and fourth years students are expected to undertake five clinical education placements, each of five weeks duration.

Professional Practice - Australian Physiotherapy Council (APC)

Core

The Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours) is fully accredited with the Australian Physiotherapy Council. On completion of the course students are eligible for registration with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia, through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra).

This course is not offered via distance education, however, students will undertake some units via distance education and may be required to attend compulsory residential schools.

If you have already completed a study relevant to the course you have enrolled in, you may be eligible for credit transfer.
