Helen Howard
I had worked in office management and accounts for many years. I started studying social work because I wanted a career change that embodied my personal values of social justice and gender equality.
After a student placement in a men's behaviour change program, working with men who use violence against women, I discovered my purpose and passion for working in the Family and Domestic Violence (FDV) sector. I am now involved in designing and facilitating FDV training for practitioners.
I work on projects to strengthen our responses to people who perpetrate FDV, research, design and deliver FDV training, and offer support and consultations to sectors and organisations who wish to improve their capabilities in the FDV space.
Qualifying as a social worker has given me the skills, knowledge and credibility to work confidently and safely in this sector.
