I studied my Bachelors of Engineering in Nepal. After working for 3 years, I wanted to broaden my academic skills through an international degree for my Masters. I was very impressed with the units in the Master of Engineering at CQU, and a highlight was the internship requirement to complete the course. I took this degree as a pathway to get exposure to the Australian construction industry.

During degree, I got an internship opportunity in a sub-contracting road construction company for 3 months as a graduate engineer. After graduation, I applied for graduate and site engineering roles around Western Australia. My work exposure from my internship helped me to get a job in a well-known Tier 1 construction company called ACCIONA. Initially, I was given a temporary contract for 5 months, but because of my performance they offered me the full-time role of site engineer straight after 1 month of work.

My job includes earthworks, road and pavement, drainage, and landscaping to Department of Main Roads Western Australia specifications. I do preparation of program/ planning, resource management, quality control, production and cost management, technical support to the crew, training and inductions, and Health and safety inspections, along with daily reporting and coordination with relevant stakeholders.

My degree perfectly provided me with the necessary attributes required for a road construction job in Australia.
