Sharon is a primary school teacher with experience in many different roles within the Education Department. She taught all primary year levels as well as health and physical education. She had also been a behaviour support teacher, a deputy principal and a principal of small schools.

Sharon returned to university to study Psychology, and then moved into a guidance officer role with the Education Department, working in a remote Indigenous prep-to-year 10 school and a rural high school. In this role she works with teenagers, focusing on their mental health and well-being. She is required to write reports, conduct assessments and communicate with parents, teachers and external agencies. Sharon reports that every day is different and unpredictable!

As part of Sharon's Psychology studies, she was required to undertake a professional psychology internship. Once completed, she will be a registered psychologist.
