Hossein is currently a Senior Lecturer in civil engineering at the Ara Institute of Canterbury in Christchurch. He teaches multiple subjects in civil engineering and is the lead researcher for several research projects supported by industry.

After obtaining his undergraduate degree in Iran, Hossein began working in the industry as a civil engineer while also completing his Masters. He then moved to Australia to undertake his PhD. He chose to study at CQUniversity as he was curious about the research undertaken at the Centre for Railway Engineering (CRE).

During his PhD, Hossein worked as a sessional academic at CQUni. He worked as a track/project engineer in the Gold Coast Light Rail Project before relocating to New Zealand. He has always had a strong interest in research and a desire to work full time in academia. Completing his PhD at CQUniversity prepared Hossein to pursue a career in academia.
