Luke Giles

Luke had two main reasons for choosing CQUni, the first being that CQUni offered an undergraduate degree in his field of interest (health promotion) at a time when most study options in this field were postgraduate. The second reason was the flexibility offered through studying by distance, which enabled him to stay in his hometown.

By completing this degree, Luke has been able to secure employment in the health promotion field and now has over 10 years of experience as a practitioner. His degree has given him a very strong foundation on health promotion theory and principles. Luke enjoyed working on several different projects and applying his learnings in various ways.

Some of his career highlights include resource development on storybooks and DVDs to support a state-wide health promotion project; making healthy changes with childcare centres, health services and community organisations; a project using art to explore the impact of smoking for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, presenting at conferences and publishing journal articles.
