School teacher Justine adds to business repertoire thanks to CQU and Fee-Free TAFE
School teacher Justine Lyons’ skills and knowledge in and outside the classroom have been boosted thanks to undertaking a Certificate III in Business through Fee-Free TAFE at CQUniversity.
Fee-Free TAFE is funded by the Australian and Queensland Governments to meet the demand for skilled workers in various areas, including business, accounting and bookkeeping.
Justine, who is a Business, Religion and Vocational teacher at St. Margaret Mary’s College in Townsville, undertook a Certificate III in Business with CQU to enhance her teaching skills at the school.
“I work full-time as a secondary school business education teacher and I did this qualification to add to my teaching portfolio, which, in turn, meant I needed to hold the qualification myself,” she said.
“The qualification is nationally recognised and has been exactly what I needed,” Justine said.
“I have more knowledge about each of the areas of competency and more skills in the Microsoft suite.
“CQU was a great choice for me due to the convenience - I could enrol at any time and progress at a fast pace – as soon as I was ready, I could start the next unit. I was also helped by the quick turnaround by the staff marking my work. Their flexibility was appreciated.”
The Certificate III in Business is one of many courses available through the Fee-Free TAFE program in 2024.
