CQUniversity recently welcomed 13 exchange and study abroad students to the Brisbane and Rockhampton campuses, marking a significant milestone since the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2024 CQUGlobal exchange included eight students on the Brisbane campus and five on the Rockhampton campus, representing the highest number of inbound exchange and study abroad students since the pandemic and the largest contingent on the Brisbane campus to date.

Participating students hailed from a range of countries including Ireland, France, Switzerland, Denmark, South Korea, Canada and the Netherlands.

CQU Global Partnerships and Mobility Coordinator Dominic de Moura McCarthy expressed his enthusiasm for the success of the program and return of international students.

"We are thrilled to have hosted such a vibrant and diverse group of students from around the world,” he said.

“Their presence on our campuses has enriched our university community, and we are proud to have provided them with an opportunity to experience the unique educational and cultural environment of Australia."

Ivana Dogo Koudou from The INSEEC School of Business and Economics in Paris said CQU offered an enriching and memorable exchange.

"As a French student, studying in Australia has been a wonderful new experience. Not only for the beautiful sunsets and the warm environment, but above all for its multicultural environment - studying at CQUniversity Australia has given me the opportunity to meet many people from all over the world, enriching my international study experience,” Ivana said.

“One thing I particularly enjoyed on the CQU Brisbane campus were the events organised by the Student Life Committee, from Indian lunch to Mental Health Day - every moment was great.

“...I met kangaroos and koalas in Australia, but I also met great people and discovered a new way of looking at education and human relationships.”

As the students return to their home countries, carrying with them unforgettable memories, Dominic said CQUniversity looks forward to continuing to expand its reach - and welcome even more international students in the coming years.

“Hosting our highest number of inbound students on our Brisbane campus and collectively across the University footprint is a testament to the growing global interest in CQUniversity.

“We will continue our ongoing efforts to enhance the international student experience and to foster a global learning environment.”
