CQU students open clinic doors to adults needing OT support
CQUniversity Occupational Therapy students have expanded their clinic services in Rockhampton to include adult patients that need tailored support.
The Occupational Health (OT) Clinic operates out of the CQUniversity Health Clinic on the Rockhampton North campus and is run by third and fourth-year students undergoing their 10-week block placements' under the supervision of qualified occupational therapists.
Clinical Educator Belle Keen said the OT services provided are tailored to each individual client.
"Our students are able to tailor OT programs for clients based on their individual needs and activities they find meaningful'" she explained.
The occupational therapy students can address a range of issues including' but not limited to falls management' home safety and accessibility' assistive technology' the engagement in leisure and social activities' functional assessments of daily activities' chronic condition management and support' cognition support' therapy and assessment.
Education and advice can also be provided to sufferers of age-specific illnesses such as dementia' Parkinson's and Alzheimer's.
The clinic is open for bookings on Mondays from 8.30am to 3pm. Costs for a one-hour appointment is $45.
The clinic is not an NDIS registered health care provider and due to the nature of the clinic' students cannot accept Workover or EPC clients.
