Gabby looks forward to CQUni TAFE Careers Expo and a future in Nursing

Mackay high schooler Gabby Baron hopes the CQUniversity TAFE Careers Expo will be the first step on the path to becoming a nurse so she can help others.

CQUni will host the 2022 TAFE Careers Expos at its Gladstone' Mackay and Rockhampton campuses on 19 January.

Attendees will discover more about what study options are available' as well as support services' apprentice' and trainee information' and how funding options for eligible applicants may dramatically reduce the cost of courses.

Gabby' who will begin Year 12 in 2022' hopes to get as much information as she can about CQUni's Nursing courses.

"I would like to become a health care professional as a nurse as I enjoy assisting others and believe it is one of the most gratifying jobs one can have'" she said.

"My ambition after high school is to attend university and do nursing' following which I would like to work in critical care.

"I want to do something challenging and fascinating that has a daily impact on people's lives.

"As a nurse' you deal with numerous aspects of patient care' and I enjoy the variety in the routine.

"There may be many stressors' such as traumatic occurrences' but I am a very resilient person who takes pride in knowing that I have tried or made a difference in someone's life.

"I hope the Expo gives me a better understanding on the course I would like to enrol in. I also hope it can teach me some valuable lessons before I join uni."

The CQUni TAFE Careers Expo will held at the CQUniversity Mackay City campus on Sydney Street from 2 – 5.30 pm Simultaneous events will be held at CQUniversity Gladstone Marina on Bryan Jordan Drive and CQUniversity Rockhampton City on Canning Street.
