Acknowledgement Of Country
We respectfully acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we work and learn. We pay respect to the First Nations Peoples and their Elders, past, present and emerging for they hold the memories, the traditions, the culture and hopes of Indigenous Australians. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities are also respectfully referred to within this website as Indigenous Australians, First Australians and First Nations Peoples.
CQUniversity has a long-term commitment to the education and employment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples throughout its many campuses, Regional University Centres and local communities. CQUniversity will take a leadership role by maintaining and further growing its First Nations workforce. It is our intention to reach the national parity rate for Indigenous employees of a minimum of 3% employment, as identified by the Australian government and Universities Australia.
Employees at CQUniversity firmly believe the motto ‘My Job Changes Lives’ because we see it on a regular basis. Check out the Recruitment flyer that highlights the benefits in working for CQUni.
CQUni share information about employment opportunities in a variety of ways including:
- Jobs at CQUniversity website

Pathways to working with us include:
- Pre-employment training – Training is in our DNA! Traineeships and other opportunities are promoted on our website and social media pages.
- Current students and recent alumni (graduates) can access the free Job Application Checking Service and CQU Career Hub
- Fixed term vacancies – are often used to cover for an absent employee (eg parental leave) or for a project that has a specific funding period (a research grant or government funding program). A fixed-term contract will generally be between 6 months and 2 years and it will have a clearly defined end date which is included in the job advertisement. These vacancies give successful applicants the chance to gain experience and learn some of CQUni’s internal systems – which can make you very competitive when applying for a continuing role.
- Continuing vacancies – often called ‘Permanent’ jobs and may be full-time or part-time.
- Casual Learning advisors (Tutors) for First Nations students (known as IAS Tutors) - individuals with a Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification can apply to work as a tutor for undergraduate students. Supported by the Indigenous Student Success Program (ISSP) funding, tutors are matched to Indigenous students seeking assistance with their studies. Complete the online expression of interest form available from the Indigenous Student Engagement page to register and we will be in touch if you are matched to a student request.
