Overview

This micro-credential comes out of the Next-Gen AgTeachers: upskilling teachers in AgFoodFibre for the 21st century project, aimed to improve primary and secondary teacher knowledge of modern agriculture and the digital capability required for work in agriculture. This series of five micro-credentials is relevant to primary and secondary school teachers who are currently teaching agriculture or teaching agriculture out of field (assigned a subject for which they do not have the required subject matter knowledge or formal qualifications in). In the "Remote Farm Management for Secondary Teachers" micro-credential, you will develop knowledge and skills using cloud-based farm management platforms that facilitates evidence-based decision-making within farming enterprises and provides real-world learning opportunities for critical data analysis and evaluation by students.

This online micro-credential provides a non-creditable micro-credential and digital badge which can be shared to your social networks and displayed in your professional portfolio.

Career Opportunities

Upskilling teachers' skill sets in agriculture will improve their future employment opportunities with high demand for specialist teachers, particularly in regional and remote Queensland communities. Additionally, teachers will have a greater awareness and understanding of modern agriculture, including current technological advancements in the sector.

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be awarded Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours, a non-creditable micro-credential (Digital Badge) and a Certificate of Completion.

  1. Identify the key features of the remote farm management dashboard including managing farm data and generating reports
  2. Analyse animal performance reports to determine how factors such as breed, gender, and sire impact growth performance of cattle.

Requirements

Participants must be a teacher, teacher aid, farm assistant/manager, career advisor or studying to become a teacher.

Our micro-credentials are available for anyone to access. You do not have to be a CQUniversity student.
