Overview
Study the Bachelor of Nutrition / Master of Nutrition and Dietetics and develop your professional skills related to the practice of nutrition and dietetics to influence the management of medical conditions and enhance general wellbeing through nutritional intervention and dietary changes.
Throughout this course, you will develop a high level of technical and evaluative skills. You'll learn how to assess and implement recommendations for best practices in nutrition and dietetics. You'll develop your communication and interpersonal skills so that you can positively interact with patients, health professionals, and the community.
You will develop advanced skills and knowledge in areas such as:
- nutritional biochemistry,
- nutritional physiology,
- food science,
- nutritional assessment,
- medical nutrition therapy,
- public health nutrition and
- food service.
You'll complete four work-integrated learning units, which will allow you to apply your skills and knowledge in these areas to real workplaces.
This course combines the Bachelor of Nutrition and the Master of Nutrition and Dietetics. Its integrated and fast-tracked format allows you to graduate with both degrees in just four years.
CQUniversity received Program Qualification for the dietetics component of the course from Dietitians Australia (DA) and is seeking accreditation.
How you'll study
First three years: online with residential schools
This full-time course offers you the flexibility to study the first three years online, from where it suits you. As part of your study experience, you will need to attend CQU's Rockhampton North campus for residential schools. Your residential schools take place in Years 2 and 3.
Fourth year: on-campus weekly activities in Rockhampton
You'll also need to attend compulsory weekly activities on-campus for two terms during the Masters component of the course.

The Bachelor of Nutrition / Master of Nutrition and Dietetics is an integrated vertical Masters course that leads towards a career as an accredited dietitian.
A dietitian is a health professional who contributes towards promoting health and preventing and treating illness by optimising the nutrition of populations, communities and individuals. Dietitians have a defined and recognisable body of knowledge and utilise scientific principles and methods in the study of nutrition and dietetics, applying these results to influence the wider environment, affecting food intake and eating behaviour.

Additional information
Food Service Practice - NUTR29008
This unit embodies the work-integrated learning experience requirements of the accrediting body, DA. These requirements are that students must be engaged in placement for a minimum of 20 working days in a range of food service providers to practice the fundamental skills.
Medical Nutrition Therapy and Practice 2 - NUTR29004
This unit embodies the work-integrated learning experience requirements of the accrediting body, DA. These requirements are that students must be engaged in placement for a minimum of 20 working days in acute and ambulatory care settings for the management of complex acute and chronic diseases.
Public Health Nutrition Placement - NUTR29005
This unit embodies the work-integrated learning experience requirements of the accrediting body, DA. These requirements are that students must be engaged in placement for a minimum of 30 working days in a government or non-government organisation in the community to practice the fundamental skills of public health nutrition.
Dietetics Practice and Communication - NUTR29012
This unit embodies the work-integrated learning experience requirements of the accrediting body, DA. These requirements are that students must be engaged in introductory placement for a minimum of 10 working days in a range of healthcare settings to practice the fundamental skills.

Fees & Scholarships
Indicative First-Year Fee
The Indicative First-Year Fee is the approximate cost of enrolling in this course for one full-time academic year (eight units over two terms) depending on the type of place you are offered, for example, a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) or Full Fee Paying (FFP) Place. The indicative fee provided should be used as a guide only. Your actual fees may vary, depending on the units you select to study and your study load. Check the cost-per-unit spreadsheet available on our fees webpage for the approved unit fees. Fees are reviewed each year and are subject to change.
Commonwealth Supported Places
This course has Commonwealth Supported Places (CSPs) available, and as a domestic student, you'll be offered a CSP, provided you meet CSP eligibility requirements. CSPs are subsidised by the Australian Government, meaning you are only required to pay the student contribution rather than full tuition fees.
HECS-HELP Loan
You may be eligible for a HECS-HELP government loan if you are offered a CSP. HECS-HELP is an Australian Government loan scheme that assists you in paying your student contributions. Provided you meet the HECS-HELP eligibility criteria, you may use HECS-HELP to defer part or all of your student contribution fees.
Part of your course costs will include Student Services and Amenities Fees (SSAF). SSAF is charged in addition to your student contribution or tuition fees and is used to help enhance your study experience.
