Overview
Did you know that a cell is the smallest unit that can live on its own on earth? Are you keen to know more about the characteristics of all living organisms on our planet?
Biology is the study of life on Earth and all living organisms on the planet. This online micro-credential will introduce you to both the language and theory of modern biology covering a range of topics including living organisms and levels of organisation, biological molecules, the cell - the building block of life, homeostasis, and cell membranes.
Students who successfully complete the set of 6 micro-credentials* developed from the unit BIOL40108, Introductory Biology, (which forms part of the Skills for Tertiary Education Preparatory Studies (STEPS) CL03), may be eligible for credit transfer, pending all other entry requirements to the Skills for Tertiary Education Preparatory Studies (STEPS) CL03 are being met, as automatic entry will not apply.
*Includes the following micro-credentials:
- PDC113639 Biology – Understanding Cells
- PDC113641 Biology – Genetics and DNA
- PDC113643 Biology – Organ Systems
- PDC113648 Biology - Taxonomy
- PDC113651 Biology – Ecology and Sustainability
- PDC113652 Assessment Module_Biology Essentials
This online micro-credential provides a creditable micro-credential and digital badge which can be shared to your social networks and displayed in your professional portfolio.
Our micro-credentials are aligned to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
