Overview
Becoming a light vehicle mechanic requires not only a passion for cars but a desire to stay up to date with rapidly changing technology. CQUniversity not only provides the latest in training techniques but also enables apprentices to experience a broad array of vehicles and scenarios to ensure they can meet the demands of today and the future. This course is for apprenticeship training only. You must be employed as apprentices in a relevant industry.
This qualification reflects the role of individuals who perform a broad range of tasks on a variety of light vehicles in the automotive retail, service and repair industry.
No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

Apprentices can be accepted throughout the year. Training dates are structured upon intake. On-campus training is conducted on the CQUniversity’s Rockhampton City and Gladstone Campuses.
This course has no residential schools.
Requirements
This course is for apprenticeship training only. Students must be employed as apprentices in a relevant industry.
Completion of the bksb (Basic Key Skills Builder) online literacy and numeracy assessment prior to enrolment, unless the student has completed an equal or higher level course.
The additional FFS unit AURETH011 is for qualified light vehicle or heavy vehicle tradespersons to update and gain a new electric/hybrid unit.
Fees & Scholarships
Fee for Service/ Full Fee
Fee for Service/Full Fee occurs when the full tuition fee is charged to students. This may occur when the course is not included in government subsidy program/s or the student is not eligible for a government subsidy. These students are obligated to cover the entire cost. Queensland Government subsidies are available for eligible applicants to greatly reduce the cost of apprentice and trainee training.
User Choice funding provides a contribution that reduces the cost of training. Eligible apprentices and trainees will be charged $1.60 per nominal hour. Concession rates apply to eligible students based on provided evidence. If you are required to pay Student Contribution Fees, you may be eligible for partial or full exemption, you can find more information on Apply for TAFE Certificates and Diplomas.
Free apprenticeships for under 25s will cover the cost of training for employers who commence an eligible new apprentice or trainee, or already have an existing apprentice or trainee aged under 25. Find out more.
