Financial Planning

The Financial Planning major is accredited by the Financial Planning Association of Australia and satisfies the educational requirements for Financial Advisors as overseen by the Australian Government Treasury (being a course of study previously accredited by the Financial Adviser Standards and Ethics Authority (FASEA)). Successfully completing this major will provide you with the skills and knowledge to practice as an accountant and a financial planner. To apply for membership in the Financial Planning Association, you should select this major.

This major has six compulsory units (FINC11001, FINC19012, FINC19016, FINC19019, FINC19020, FINC13001). You must then select two units from the remaining four (FINC19014, LAWS19034, PROP11001 and PROP12002). 

You should select the option of LAWS19034 Taxation Law and Practice B and PROP12002 Property Rights and Law in this major if you wish to apply for registration with the Tax Practitioners Board (after meeting the Board's requirements for practical experience).

Coding Foundations

The Coding Foundations minor is perfect if you want the ability to design and create software applications or apps to attain a career in financial technology (FinTech). You'll learn the steps needed to take an app idea through to a design, then build the app and release it to customers. You'll gain foundational skills in writing software, as well as managing app data in a database and will learn to design user-friendly interfaces for both standalone apps and websites. Through hands-on activities, you'll learn technologies such as Java, HTML, SQL and CSS.

Indicative first-year fee

The Indicative First-Year Fee is the approximate cost of enrolling in this course for one full-time academic year (eight units over two terms) for a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) and should be used as a guide only. Commonwealth Supported Places

This course has Commonwealth Supported Places (CSPs) available, and as a domestic student, you'll be offered a CSP, provided you meet CSP eligibility requirements. CSPs are subsidised by the Australian Government, meaning you are only required to pay the student contribution rather than full tuition fees.

HECS-HELP Loan

You may be eligible for a HECS-HELP government loan if you are offered a CSP. HECS-HELP is an Australian Government loan scheme that assists you in paying your student contributions. Provided you meet the HECS-HELP eligibility criteria, you may use HECS-HELP to defer part or all of your student contribution fees.
