My background is that I was a young mum of 3 children who was struggling make ends meet. I decided to apply for a nursing degree to give my kids a better life and prove to people who knew me that I could be better.

I applied to uni and successfully passed the STEPs course to enable me to start uni, as I did not finish year 12. Once I was enrolled and attended my first on-site classes (res school) I knew this was where I wanted to study. The support from the lecturers, the other students and my placement experiences all set me up for success. My degree dragged out for an extra 2 years as my 4th child had health problems but I kept going with my goal to be successful for them.

After I graduated I worked in aged care for a year and then secured a position in a Multipurpose Heath Service (MPHS). I was then successful in my application for a Clinical Nurse position and remained at the MPHS for four years, during which time I led the facility to successful aged care accreditation. I also achieved my nursing radiology license in that time and led mentor and leadership courses to provide support for nursing students.

At the end of 2022, I applied for a Clinical Manager position in an aged care facility. Just a few years into my nursing career I am a Clinical Manager of an Aged Care Facility with a vast knowledge of experience from my CQU placements and my experience in rural nursing. Aged Care is definitely my passion.
