Open Competitors
The WorldSkills Hairdressing Competition 2024 is designed to allow Competitors to show a range of specialist skills and knowledge towards Hairdressing services. These specialist services will include creative haircutting, enhanced hair designs, colouring and complex colour correction and chemical reformation; create classic long hair up-styles, select and apply hair extensions, design and style long hair creatively, and work as a session stylist. Anita West will be hosting two events, please register below to attend your chosen day:
- Friday 23 August - Rockhampton City Campus Building 3, Room 2.22
- Monday 26 August - Mackay City Campus Building 4, Level 1, Room 1.47
To be eligible to enter a WorldSkills competition, you must meet at least one of the following criteria:
- Be undertaking an apprenticeship or traineeship in an Australian RTO/TAFE/University
- Be undertaking studies towards a qualification at an Australian RTO/TAFE or University
- Undertaken/completed a relevant qualification at an Australian RTO/TAFE or University
There is no age criteria to enter the Regionals, however, to be eligible to proceed to the 2025 National Championships, the National Age Ruling will apply.
A competitor at the WorldSkills Australia National Championships should not be older than 24 years in the year of competition (For 2025 – Born on or after 1 Jan 2001). For more information on eligibility visit WorldSkills.
VETiS Competitors
The VETiS Hairdressing Competition will include a number of hairdressing skills consistent by those used in Hairdressing Salons. Anita West will be hosting two events, please register below to attend your chosen day:

The VETiS Regional Competitions are open for students who are enrolled in the first year of a VET course in secondary schools.
To be eligible to compete at a National Championships in a VETiS category, you must be enrolled in a VET course within secondary school the year of the competition.
