CQUniversity’s Times Higher Education (THE) World University Ranking has elevated over the past 12 months to see the University now ranked within the world’s top 600 institutions (out of almost 2,000 eligible universities).

A major factor in the University’s surge in the annual rankings was its positive research performance, with the University’s research quality ranked just outside the world’s top 400.

CQUniversity’s Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Nick Klomp welcomed the latest rankings results and highlighted the University’s continuing achievements in the research space.

“We are delighted with the latest results from Times Higher Education, and we are committed to continuing to improve on these results in the years to come.

“We are especially delighted with the recognition of the University’s research quality for which we are now sitting just outside the world’s top 400 universities.

“This is an exceptional result for a regionally based university, and it is a testament to the extraordinary talent and scope of our researchers who are delivering world-renowned, applied research in several key areas, including health and social science, agriculture and environmental science and engineering,” said Professor Klomp.

“CQUniversity’s research outcomes are directly benefiting end-users right across Australia and the world and our innovation is something everyone in the regions can, and should be, very proud of.”

The latest world rankings results within the THE World University Rankings come on the back of CQUniversity’s success in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings earlier this year, for which it was ranked in the top 75 institutions globally for its impact against the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

“Just like the THE Impact Rankings our latest world rankings results reflect how closely our values and strategic goals resonate with important global issues, as well as issues closer to home including improving access to and participation in higher education and training within the regions; and working with community and industry to deliver solutions to complex challenges,” Professor Klomp said.

Earlier this year CQUniversity was also ranked in the top 600 universities worldwide by the QS World University Rankings

CQUniversity has also maintained its strong reputation for social equity, student support, graduate outcomes and overall experience as part of the Good Universities Guide, achieving five-stars for all categories.

The THE World Universities Rankings are trusted worldwide by students, teachers, governments and industry experts and are determined by an analysis of research citations and publications, survey responses and datapoints provided by more than 2,500 universities globally.
