CQUniversity Australia has continued to excel when it comes to rankings success related to equity and graduate outcomes with the Australian Financial Review (AFR) Best Universities Ranking highlighting the University’s credentials in this space.

In the 2023 AFR Higher Education national rankings, CQU was ranked 12th best overall and tied second-highest in Queensland.

CQUniversity Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Nick Klomp expressed his pride in the University’s performance.

“Our recent results are a testament to CQUniversity’s prominent role in the higher education landscape, at both a state and national level, especially when it comes to equity and access,” Professor Klomp said.

“They reflect our dedication to providing high-quality education and conducting impactful research that contributes to society.”

Designed to provide a comprehensive evaluation of universities in Australia, the rankings recognised CQUniversity's notable achievements across student satisfaction, research performance, global reputation, career impact, and equity and access.

This comprehensive assessment goes beyond traditional metrics to showcase the diverse strengths and qualities of each university.

In particular, CQUniversity achieved top marks for equity and access, ranking first place nationally.

“We are proud to champion equal opportunities and inclusivity in education. Our focus on serving diverse student populations and ensuring their success demonstrates our dedication to providing a quality education for all," Professor Klomp said.

“We are committed to the personal and academic development of our students but also to the broader social and economic wellbeing of the communities we serve.

“As a regional university, we strive to be a leader in accessible, high-quality education.

“These rankings underscore our dedication to serving our communities and offering a well-rounded educational experience to those living in the regions.”

The latest rankings results come on the back of a notable year for the University after it was ranked 74th in the world in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings and in the top 600 universities worldwide in the THE and QS World University Rankings

The University was also recognised in the latest Quality Indicators for Learning and Teaching (QILT) Student Experience Survey report, as among the Top 10 Australian public universities for overall experience by undergraduate domestic students, and as the best public university in Australia by undergraduate international students.
