CQUniversity is the only university in the country to offer a preparation program exclusively online to assist internationally qualified registered nurses (IQRNs) to undertake the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia’s (NMBA’s) OSCE.

In 2020, the NMBA transitioned to an outcome-based assessment (OBA) for IQRNs who hold a qualification that is relevant but not substantially equivalent to an Australian approved qualification. As a result, some IQRNs applying for registration are required to undertake the NMBA’s OSCE.

Consequently, CQUniversity has developed a 100 per cent fully online program in response for the need to prepare IQRNs for the OSCE.

CQUniversity Nursing Lecturers Chanchal Kurup and Adeniyi Adeleye said the university’s short program, PDC12896: Preparation Program for the NMBA’s Registered Nurse Objective Structured Clinical Examination is being delivered completely online through CQUniversity’s Be Different platform. The Be Different platform is an hyperflexible delivery model.

Chanchal and Adeniyi said the online aspect of the Preparation Program for the NMBA’s Registered Nurse Objective Structured Clinical Examination program will be beneficial to IQRNs.

They said the program was designed as interactive and self-paced, where at various points the candidates receive essential feedback on their performance from their peers and lecturers, which assists them for their NMBA RN OSCE.

Enrolments are available throughout the year, and the program is delivered by IQRN academics who are also active researchers in the area of nursing immigration.

The typical duration of the program is eight weeks, depending on the applicants’ progress, however it’s recommended that applicants pace the program between one to three months.

Prospective applicants can enrol/apply online via the CQUniversity Preparation Program for the NMBA’s Registered Nurse Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) and follow the instructions. The cost is $1100.
