Works included paintings' photographs and prints' digital works' textile pieces' assemblages' wood works' glass art and jewellery.
Tara said she was grateful to win the $500 Student Award for her painting 'Unwanted wisdom'.
'It's the first time I've entered the CQU Creates Art Awards and won' so I feel very grateful to win'' Tara said.
'I was very surprised. I've always created art' but I only started getting into painting last year. I've done sculpting in the past.'
She said her acrylic on canvas painting was a personal project she worked on in between her Oral Health studies.
'It's very personal. It's based on a very aesthetically pleasing photo of me and my dad that was taken on my high school graduation day'' she said.
'When the photo was taken my dad was lecturing me about schoolies and telling me not to get a tattoo or take drugs.
'When I told him what the painting meant he had a good laugh about it.'
Tara's painting impressed CQU Creates Art Awards judge Veronika Zeil' who said: 'This is a crisp' contemporary painting of an urban setting and moment in time – beautifully executed with subtle hints at the dichotomy of tension and intimacy between the two people in the picture.'
Tara said although she planned on making a career in the dental health industry' she would always express herself through art on-the-side.
