Thesis Name

From Wagner to Wildhorn to Sidwell and Much In-between: Investigating the Director's role in collaborative practice within regional arts community musical theatre.

Thesis Abstract

The research focus of my project is to examine how collaborative practice emerges in musical theatre. Along with the development of my role as a director and composer of musical theatre and the collaborative focus between the interdisciplinary members of the creative team.

Why my research is important/Impacts

My research question is, How can collaborative practice influence a director and composer of musical theatre, when staging both re-imaginings of existing repertoire and writing new original material, whilst also recognising and incorporating Wagner's aesthetic ideal of Gesamtkunstwerk on the form?
