Language, Literacy and Numeracy Centre (LLNC)
Our vocational trainees and apprentices benefit from access to qualified and experienced Learning Support teachers. These teachers, based within our Language, Literacy and Numeracy Centre service our Brisbane, Bundaberg, Emerald, Gladstone, Mackay and Rockhampton campuses and also work with students online.
Our teachers also work with other TAFE students whose Basic Key Skills Builder (BKSB) results fall below the recommended level for their course profile. Students below ACSF Level 3 BKSB may be encouraged to enrol in foundation support units through FSK10219 and FSK20119. (subject to eligibility and conditions).
Learning Support teachers provide an encouraging and friendly environment in which students can receive support with their language, literacy, and numeracy requirements throughout their learning journey.
Learning Support Specialists can assist TAFE students with:
- Language and Literacy – reading and comprehension, answering assessment questions, form filling, spelling, writing workplace documents/reports.
- Numeracy – vocational knowledge and concepts including computations, measurement, formulas, Pythagoras theorem, algebra, and trigonometry.
We offer in-class support, short or long-term learning support, and one-on-one or small-group assistance is also available,
