Physical inactivity is an important risk factor for the development of chronic disease. As such, Wellbeing SA — a South Australian health promotion agency — is developing and implementing a state-wide physical activity strategy and will invest in: 1) the development and implementation of a state-wide Walking Strategy and Action Plan in partnership with the National Heart Foundation and other key stakeholders; 2) the development and implementation of a state-wide physical activity communications campaign with a focus on walking; 3) The ongoing delivery of the 10,000 Steps program in South Australia; and 4) The development and implementation of a Physical Activity in Nature Action Plan aligned with the Healthy Parks, Heathy People SA agenda. The aim of this PhD-project is to conduct a comprehensive and holistic evaluation of the Wellbeing SA state-wide physical activity health promotion program.
