The CQUniCares Travel Bursary supports undergraduate students from regional and remote Australia, low socio-economic status (SES) backgrounds, and/or Indigenous persons with the costs associated with travelling for compulsory residential schools, unpaid industry placement, or relocation for on-campus study.
To be eligible to receive the CQUniCares Travel Bursary, successful applicants must:
- Be identified as living in regional and remote Australia, low socio-economic status (SES) backgrounds, and/or Indigenous persons for the duration of enrolment with CQUniversity.
- Be enrolled in an undergraduate course of study in Term 3, 2024:
- Bachelor
- Associate Degree
- Advanced Diploma (Higher Education)
- Diploma (Higher Education)*
- Be required to travel to either a residential school, unpaid industry placement, or for on-campus study commitment.
- Be studying a minimum term study load of 6 credit points or more at Census date of Term 3, 2024.
- Be an Australian, New Zealand Citizen or holder of an Australian Permanent Visa**
- Not currently in receipt of a CQUniversity Scholarship/Sponsorship or a Scholarship/Sponsorship where payments are administered by CQUniversity.

** Must have a permanent home address in Australia
Complete the application form provided by the Student Scholarship team addressing the following question:

Provide a screenshot from SONIA or calendar in MyCQU, including your name to confirm the duration and location of your residential school or unpaid industry placement
Selection process
As per the Higher Education Participation and Partnerships Program (HEPPP) Funding requirements, the funds provided as part of this program are directed exclusively towards students studying an undergraduate course from regional and remote Australia (as defined by ABS), low socio-economic status (SES) backgrounds (as defined by ABS), and/or Indigenous persons.
As there are a limited number of scholarships available, all scholarships may be exhausted prior to the advertised closing date.
Students are required to apply for the CQUniCares Travel Bursary either before commencing or during the scheduled residential school or placement dates. Students will not be eligible for this scholarship if the residential school or placement is completed or passed.
Additional information
As a scholarship recipient, you will be asked to participate in a feedback survey. You may also be approached to assist with positively promoting the CQUniversity Scholarships program by sharing your experiences as a recipient through media or invited to attend events such as Orientation or Open Day.

Payment of scholarship
Successful applicants are required to enter their current financial institution details (banking details) into their MyCQU (refer to instructions) for payment to occur.
Payment will be made to the successful applicant following post Census date eligibility checks. Payments will be made electronically to the successful applicant’s nominated bank account. Requests for an early payment will not be considered.
All requests for further information to support applications will be sent to the CQUniversity student email account. Failure to supply further information will deem the application incomplete and will not be considered.
To apply for a CQUniCares Travel Bursary:
- Contact the Student Scholarships team by emailing studentscholarships@cqu.edu.au requesting an application form.
- Once the first eligibility checks are conducted, the Student Scholarships team will send an application form to your student email.
- Return the completed form and a screenshot from SONIA or calendar in MyCQU, including your name to confirm the duration and location of your residential school or unpaid industry placement via email to studentscholarships@cqu.edu.au.
